Reborn doll kits

We have a range of reborn doll kits from Bountiful Baby with closed, sleeping eyes, open eyes and various facial expressions. All kits are ideal for reborning either as a girl or boy, depending on your personal taste. Our kits come with the correct body included to save you chasing around trying to figure out which body to use. Apart from the kits, we have a wide variety of eyes, lashes, mohair and other items used in reborning your baby doll. These being Genesis heat set paints, pallettes, brushes, rooting tool, felting needles in various sizes to name a few in our webstore! http://pureindollgence.com/

Aleene's Paper Glaze

A new shipment has arrived! Aleene's Paper Glaze is the medium to use if you want to give your reborn doll wet eyes, tears running down the cheeks, a runny nose or even drooling from the mouth. It goes on clear and dries crystal clear for that realistic wet look on your baby. A small amount does the trick, so the 2oz bottle will last a long time. We have these available in our webstore: http://pureindollgence.com/

Craft Smart Tacky Glue

I have found a new LARGE bottle (250mls) of Craft Smart tacky glue which is similar to E6000 and Aleene's tacky glue and a lot less expensive, since I can buy it in Australia, which saves the huge shipping fees from USA. Ideal for sealing the mohair inside the head after rooting. The large size will seal a lot of heads, and the pointed nozzle makes it easy to point the glue to a section you want it at! Available in our webstore:  http://pureindollgence.com/

Beating Heart Mechanism

We now have the beating heart mechanism in our webstore. It activates when your hand is placed over the chest area where it is located inside the special body containing a pocket on the left side. The pocket closes with velcro for ease of opening when the battery needs to be changed. We have both the heart and body available in limited stocks in our webstore:   http://pureindollgence.com/

Welcome Baby Lucas, born October 6th 2009

Adorable little Lucas started out as a "Kaya" sculpt by Eva Helland and has been brought to life using Genesis heat set paints in a peaches & cream complexion. I modelled Lucas on photos of my new Grandson Kodi at 12 hours old.

He has closed eyes with light brown eyebrows. He has 3/4 legs and 3/4 arms, all of which have been painted & blushed in all his little creases. I also included an anatomically correct tummy plate and have given his skin a light patchy mottling effect all over as seen on newborn babies.

Lucas has a custom doe suede body, and has been weighted with poly beads and stuffed with polyfil fiber, to give a realistic newborn weight feel. His nose has been opened to look like he is breathing, plus I have given him tiny milk spots on his nose, so cute!

All vinyl parts have subtle veining and he has jointed arms & legs on the body for ease of positioning. It is amazing to see the gradual transformation with each step in the reborning process.

Where to find good books on reborn doll making

If you are new to reborning, it can be helpful to pick up a book or two on the subject to get you up to speed quickly. There are plenty of other resources available online, many free how-to videos and tutorials. But sometimes I just find that having the book right there in front of you while you are working is the best way to go. If you want to see some free videos you can always look on my reborn dolls homepage which I have the link to in an earlier entry. But, if you want to get a good book, I have done some of the hard work for you and put all the reborn doll books I could find into one place you can find quickly. If you look at my online book shop you will see all the reborn doll books on the opening page. That's not all I have there though, I have also gathered all the craft books, cook books and other specialized books I could find and put them in my bookstore too. I have special sections for knitting, crotcheting, sewing, scrapbooking, and other various crafts and plenty of other good books too. Here is a link to my online bookstore so you can have a look for yourself today! http://pureindollgence.com/reborn_dolls/bookstore.html

Another Good Forum for Reborn Doll Makers and Collectors

I came across another reborn doll forum lately, the Angelic Reborns Forum. They seem to have been around for quite some time and the forum is packed full of posts, information, and loads and loads of photos. I have been spending quite  bit of time there trying to read up on as many of the topics as I can. Plenty of really great reborn doll photos and there seems to be no shortage of forum members ready and willing to answer any and all questions you might have. At last count they had 2,212 members, 35,221 threads and 374,126 posts.. So, I think it is safe to say you won't find any shortage of reading material there. Stop by and have a look for yourself! I came across an interesting site today

In my many internet travels, I happened to stumble across another interesting website today. It is called Colliii.com Doll Lovers Online. It is based in Germany, but gives all reports and information in both German and English. The most interesting part of it to me was their many Colliii TV videos. They do these videos as a sort of newstyle broadcast and the two hosts Petra and James give reports on various new reborn doll models, dolls sent in by email from viewers and other topics of interest. Currently they are nearly set to announce the winners of their annual reborn doll contests in which almost 200 reborn dolls from around the world were submitted. I watched their news video where they announced the 15 finalists in two categories, with photos of all the dolls, most of them  were very very nice. They will have one winner based on popular vote online (with almost 200,000votes cast last I saw) and the rest of the winners are selected by a jury of 6 judges. I thought it was a very interesting and unique site and well worth a look.
A word of warning though, although there is no harm in viewing their videos or news items, I have recently received a report that the site does involve itself in a lot of spamming and such, so you might want to think twice before signing up for any of their forums or services. There is no need to give them any information about yourself to just view their stories though. Here is a link to it so you can have a look for yourself! http://www.colliii.com/en
